Hi, my name is Wyatt. I live in a suburb of Austin TX. I'm semi-retired with some time on my hands, so I am trying to indulge a desire to write. I've always had this desire, and I had some great experiences in high school and college. But life intruded, which many of you have probably heard happens.
My genre is science fiction, with mystery elements. I love the practical application of possibilities. My inspirations mostly come from "hard" science fiction stories/novels. My work background is military and IT, and then, personality flip, customer service, in my later years.
I am a very extroverted person which can be a barrier to sitting down and actually writing. Many days I have the focus of a butterfly in a big flower garden. I have thought about using dictation solutions, at least for the beginning process. Hmm, maybe some day ($$$).
I bought Writeway Pro software a few months ago, and it is a nice little program, I guess. The reason for my doubt is that I failed to notice, pre-purchase, that their videos, help files, reviews are Years old. Updates are pretty dusty, too. I wonder about their business model's future.
I considered Scrivener. The user manual is 500+ pages. Hmm, maybe some day.
So I started looking for something more up to date, easier, etc. I like what I'm reading about Novel Factory. As someone who is resurrecting a disused skill, the helper orientation of NF is appealing. The price is competitive. The promise of a web-based solution means I can probably have cross platform access at some point.
So Hello again, I am looking forward to interacting with the community.
