I use the app in my pc (hey, I'm old) but I seem to notice that anytime there's an update or upgrade they seem to be all going to the online version. Is that just me?

Hi Chandler,

That's correct. For a while now the Desktop version has been sold 'as is' and we're not actively developing features for it - though we are still supporting it and putting out bug fixes where needed.

This was largely motivated by limitations of the technology, which make developing new features quite difficult, compared to the technology which is available now (the original desktop version was built quite a while ago by tech standards!) So instead of investing too much energy battling that, we're intending to do a brand new Desktop Version 2.0.

However, we don't have any timescales on that, and for the moment we're concentrating all our resources on getting the Online version closer to where we want it to be, with new features such as timelines, character relationship maps and advanced editing tools.

Certainly understandable and I can understand the economics of the decision as well. I'm not totally adverse to trying the online version it's just that I know (also being a photographer) that there is a significant subsection of the population that does not like the subscription paradigm (Adobe lost a LOT of people who converted from Lightroom and Photoshop to other competitors that leapt up to fill the void. I'll take a look at the online version, though. Thanks.

I would be more than willing to pay the full rate every year for the download app if it were for upgrades. And don't worry. I'm pushing it to my agent etc.
