Hi all,

I was just hoping to get your opinions on whether it might be worth putting together a kickstarter or similar campaign to develop a Mac version of The Novel Factory. The number of requests for this is getting bigger, but while we would absolutely love to develop a Mac version, we're constrained by the fact we're a very small company and don't have the resources to dedicate full time effort to it at the moment.

Obviously if we had some finance, we would be able to focus on it much more.

Do any of you have experience with crowd funding campaigns? We really have none, so don't really know how likely it is to be a success, or how to go about it to give it the best chance of success.

Any input would be welcome...

I'm a huge Kickstarter freak...! I've backed loads of playing card decks over the last year, and it definitely does seem like it would be just the ticket to help you raise the funds you need.

Obviously, your backers would be the people wanting the Novel Factory for their Mac, so you get your money and they get their programme. Win, win. You could just email all the people who have already asked for the Mac version, let them know that the Kickstarter project is live, and they can pledge away. Then as word gets out, the people who want it but just didn't KNOW they wanted it can get in on the action.

I've never actually put any kind of project ON Kickstarter, but I do love the platform. It makes perfect sense that you could use it. Good luck with whatever you decide to do [smile]

Thanks for your comments! My main reluctance is that I think there's a definite skill to creating a successful campaign - one which I currently lack. I may research it in a bit more depth and keep considering.
